"Cold Spring" • Fletcher Tucker • LP/cassette/digital • 2017 |
|
Cold Spring is an artifact of my deep inhabitation of Big Sur, California – the product of seven years' solitary contemplation of a wild, primeval, and numinous landscape. Recorded gradually over the course of four years, songs were gathered on cloud-hidden peaks, wrung out from moss, and received while splitting wood, pushing through brush, and making camp. The recordings serve as trails, leading deep into the inmost nature of the land... Through the forever twilit wood, across the stony ridge, and into the mytho-poetic backcountry of abandoned ancestral knowledge, forgotten rituals, and the disregarded small gods of Place.
These recordings are an invitation to draw the blade of your mind across a wet-stone of mythos and song. To hone your awareness of the uncanny, to sense into the liminal, to awake within a vast atavistic wilderness.

"Womb of Light" • Fletcher Tucker • 7" EP • forthcoming soon |
|
This 7" EP will be my first release since dropping the Bird By Snow pseudonym. It is comprised of two texturally dense and atmospherically transportive songs. Both tracks were recorded on tape, in a decomposing school bus, abandoned in the forest of Big Sur. Side one is a shadowy crawl toward a pagan sacrifice. Side two is a fast paced astral projection through the leafy canopy.
Limited to only 100 copies on "obsidian vinyl" (translucent black). I've hand painted all of the covers (front and back), with the skulls of animals native to Big Sur... the hidden landscapes of my wild neighbors.

"Offering" • Bird By Snow • LP/digital • 2012 |
|
Offering is my 5th record (and the last Bird By Snow release). Recorded and performed entirely me. Eight completely analog recordings put to tape at various power spots in Big Sur, California. This wild landscape, relatively new to me, is the primary inspiration for the album. I attempt to envision and summon stories from an ancient future. The tales of people living timelessly in place. Folk songs for future generations of the new indigenous. Sung by me as I myself am learning to live close to the land.
Limited to 500 copies on 140 gram black vinyl, with a copper embossed booklet, the finest quality covers, and an Mp3 download.

"Native Tongue" • Yurt • cassette/digital • 2011 |
|
Native
Tongue is my only release under the Yurt moniker. This tape is comprised of 12 improvised (channeled) jaw
harp compositions. The first 11 tracks are solo improvisations,
the 12th track is a layered composition with 4 different harps
and a drum. The jaw harp is known by many names throughout the
world, in English alone it is called Jew's harp, jaw harp, juice
harp, mouth harp & trump. Hundreds of cultures around the
globe have independently discovered this mystical instrument... Native Tongue utilizes 11 different harps from
10 different regions/cultures – my personal collection.
Jaw
harps are exceptionally unique instruments because the mouth and
throat serve as the resonance chamber for the metal or wood reed.
The sound enters the body of the performer, the internal universe,
before being "released" into the external world. |

"Common Wealth" • Bird By Snow • LP/digital • 2010 |
|
This is my 4th long-player, and my only release that I did not record myself at home. It was indeed produced by the magnetic Tim Green (on tape) at Louder Studios in San Francisco. Tim has recorded a few of my favorite records, like Ancestral Songs by Daniel Higgs, and Diadem of 12 Stars by Wolves in the Throne Room, and he's worked with countless other awesomes... it was a great joy to record with him. Spencer Owen and I took full advantage of the 24-track studio and birthed a wilderness of songs, a new ecosystem of lush arrangements. This album explores moments where friendship, the wild, love, ancient practice, community, and the broader literatures of the present moment make the heat haze of separation look less convincing. And on an even simpler level, this album is about feeling the good flow.
Limited to 500 copies, on thick white vinyl with beautiful center labels, perfectly printed jacket and deluxe booklet (10-inches x 10-inches, 8-pages, full color).

"Sky" • Bird By Snow • LP • 2007 |
|
This is the 2nd pressing of my 2nd record. These are some of my most dense sound-scapes, a sculptural album that moves in and out of fog and tape hiss. Sometimes tiny and orchestral, sometimes huge and minimalist. Shimmering with strings, and hearty notions. You can hear some attempts to create new genres, like mountain dub and California-soukous. Songs written as poems, in many different places around the world, over a year... and then recorded at home, on tape, all in the order they appear on the LP. The meanings of these songs were a mystery to me, unraveling only as I began to record and perform them.
Limited to 500 on black vinyl with color lithograph covers, printed on reverse jackets, completely matte. Comes with CD version and original lovely hand-made booklet.
